To jump start another car, you don’t need to be a pro at it. However, you should ensure that you practice caution when doing it to avoid anything going wrong.

First, you need to have working jumper cables. The jumper cables should also be long enough to reach both the dead car’s battery as well as the working car’s battery. With the jumper cables at hand, make sure that the working car’s engine is off. Put both cars on Neutral gear or Park.

Connect the (+) positive terminal of the working battery to the cable’s positive side. Do the same for the dead battery. Then connect the (-) negative terminal of the working battery to the cable’s negative side. On the other side, do not connect the negative terminal of the dead battery. Instead, connect the negative side of the cable to any other unpainted metal part of the car.

Afterwards, switch the working car’s engine on for a few seconds. Switch on the dead car’s engine after a minute or so. The car should switch on perfectly.
